Using gigPrompter

The main performance workflows in one place.

These are the core ways gigPrompter v1.0 is designed to be used on stage and during song preparation.

Songs and imports

Create editable text songs or import text, ChordPro-style material, and PDFs. Scanned PDFs can use on-device OCR, and imported material remains editable before saving.

Setlists

Build and reorder sets, use Play Now for requests, Play From Here to jump, and choose automatic advance or Play and Stop behavior.

Performance

Use smooth BPM-based scrolling, tap a lyric to start from that line, or finger-scroll the Leader while playback continues.

Band Members

One Leader can synchronize the active song position with up to six nearby receive-only Band Members. Members keep local display and capo settings.

Bluetooth pedals

Map keyboard/HID pedal keys to Play/Pause, line and song navigation, key, tempo, and metronome commands.

HDMI / AirPlay

Use the independent external-display scene for lyrics-only output, including setlist-controlled image or slideshow backgrounds.

Frequently asked questions

Direct answers about gigPrompter features and performance behavior.

Device support, imports, performance scrolling, Band Members, pedals, external displays, subscriptions, and privacy.

Which devices are supported?

gigPrompter v1.0 is a native app for iPhone and iPad and requires iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later.

Does gigPrompter require an internet connection?

Songs, setlists, editing, imports, and the core performance workflow are local to the device. Leader/Band Member synchronization uses nearby local networking, while AirPlay depends on the selected Apple-compatible network and display setup.

Can I perform directly from a PDF?

PDFs are import sources. gigPrompter extracts text or uses on-device OCR for scanned PDFs, opens the result for editing, and saves the song as editable text.

Will it preserve chord spacing?

Yes. gigPrompter preserves literal spacing in chord rows and uses fixed-width performance text so chord placement remains aligned with lyrics.

How do Play Now and Play From Here work?

Play Now loads a requested song while preserving the setlist flow. Play From Here begins from a selected setlist position and treats earlier entries as skipped.

Can I move within a song while it is playing?

Yes. The Leader can finger-scroll during Ready, Paused, or Playing. During playback, the selected musical row is re-centered and synchronized to Band Members and the external display while playback and metronome continue.

What Bluetooth pedal controls are supported?

Programmable HID pedal mappings include Play/Pause, Previous Line, Next Line, Previous Song, Next Song, Key Down/Up, Tempo Down/Up, and Metronome Mode. Line, key, tempo, and metronome adjustments preserve the current Play/Pause state.

How does Leader and Band Member mode work?

One Leader can stream the live performance position to up to six nearby receive-only Band Members. Members keep their own display size, orientation, and capo position and do not control the Leader’s transport.

Does it support an external display?

Yes. gigPrompter uses an independent HDMI/AirPlay external-display scene. Lyrics-only congregation output can use setlist-controlled local background images or slideshows.

What happens without an active Perform subscription?

Only Leader and Member Perform are locked. Library, setlists, editing, imports, setup, and Settings remain available as applicable.

Is there a free trial?

Eligible new subscribers can start Apple’s native 7-day introductory free trial when choosing a qualifying monthly or yearly Perform plan. Apple manages trial eligibility and timing.

What data does the app collect?

gigPrompter contains no advertising or analytics SDK and no developer-operated song upload. Songs and setlists remain local unless the user deliberately exports or shares them through Apple system features.
